Zumba, Thomas Street Recreation Center Gymnasium, 2600 Thomas St., Wednesdays, 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Zumba Instructor is Amy Fortin, on Wednesday nights, 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.  Fee $5.00 each class – First class free.


Pickleball, Thomas Street Recreation Center Gymnasium, 2600 Thomas St., Mondays – 9 am – 11 am and Wednesdays 1 pm - 3 pm – starting October 1, 2018 – May 15, 2019

The Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation Department is continuing to offer Pickleball on Mondays and Wednesdays.  All ages and skill levels are welcome to participate.  Participation will be “drop in” play with no court reservations, (first come first served).  There is no fee - FREE!! (The use of paddles and pickleballs require a form of ID for checkout)  For additional information go to www.hoptownrec.com, follow Parks and Recreation on Facebook, or call 270-887-4290.  


Downtown Trick-or-Treat, Main Street, Wednesday, October 31, 2017, 3:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.

On Wednesday, October 31st, Downtown Trick-or-Treat will begin at 3:30 p.m.  Downtown merchants and local organizations will be located on S. Main Street, from E. 6th Street south to E. 13th Street, giving out candy and goodies until 5:30 p.m.  Adults are encouraged to accompany children ages 12 and under.  Children should bring their own bags.  There will be no parking on S. Main Street, between 7th and 13th Streets, after 3pm on October 31st.  S. Main Street, between 7th and 13th Streets, will be closed to traffic beginning at 3:00 pm.  This popular event is sponsored by Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation, Main Street Merchants, Downtown Renaissance and WKDZ/WHVO Radio.


Veteran’s Honor Parade, Downtown Hopkinsville, Saturday, November 10th, 2018, 10:00 a.m.

The Division of Parks and Recreation, Military Affairs, City of Hopkinsville and Christian County Fiscal Court will be holding a Veteran’s Honor Parade on Saturday, November 10th, 2018, at10:00 a.m. in downtown Hopkinsville.  The .5-mile route will be down Virginia Street from the War Memorial Building turning left onto 9th street to the Justice Center.  A float will be available for those Veterans that prefer to ride the parade route.  Every participating Veteran will receive a hand held American Flag to carry and take home.  Veterans will be honored during a short closing ceremony following the Parade at the Justice Center.  Supporting sponsors are VFW Post 1913, VFW Ladies Auxiliary, WHOP Radio Station and Hopkinsville D.A.V.  For additional information, please call the Parks and Recreation office at 270-887-4290 or Military Affairs at 270-885-9096. 


17th Annual Turkey Trot 5K, Downtown Hopkinsville at Founders Square, 110 West 9th Street, Thursday, November 22, 2018, 8:00 a.m.

The 17th Annual Turkey Trot 2018 is a FREE 5K walk/run downtown Hopkinsville.  Additional information provided in the near future.


HES Christmas Parade Announces Theme & Grand Marshal, ROUTE:  Begins at Glass Avenue & moves South on Main Street to 14th Street

The Hopkinsville Electric System and Energy Net will once again be the title sponsor of the 2018 Hopkinsville Christmas Parade on Saturday, December 8th, 2018. The theme of this year’s parade will be “Songs of Christmas.” Groups and organizations entering floats can get creative and use any favorite holiday song as the theme for their float entry. Hopkinsville’s own country singer/songwriter Brice Long will be the Grand Marshal for this year’s parade. The parade starts at Christian County Middle School at 5:15 pm and winds south on Main Street through downtown Hopkinsville. Cash Prizes will be awarded for Grand Champion Float, Second Place, Chamber Best Business, and the WHVO/WKDZ People’s Choice Award. Float entry fee is $21.20 and an unwrapped Christmas toy.  “The HES Christmas Parade is quickly becoming a holiday tradition in Hopkinsville. We appreciate support from the HES team and all who put units in the parade to make this a night time visual treat.,” added Parks and Recreation Department Superintendent Tab Brockman. To enter a unit or float, or if you have questions, please contact the Hopkinsville Division of Parks and Recreation at (270) 887-4290.
